FPGA Development Kit PDF Print E-mail

ImageMicroscale is happy to introduce Altera's cyclone II FPGA to Nigeria. FPGA stands for Field Programmable Gate Array and can be used to implement digital systems from counters to entire systems including a cpu and other system components. The power of FPGA lies in it's flexibility and speed and it is becomming the platform of choice for embedded systems design especially in DSP and communications systems.

Our Kit is designed for the beginner and includes a core-FPGA board which inludes the Cyclone II FPGA. Then I/O board with basic I/O devices like 7/segment display, serial port connector, VGA port etc. And finally the USB-JTAG cable which is used to program the FPGA.

Microscale recommends this kits to every Electrical and Computer science student. This kit is all you will need throughout your study of digital electronics and computer architecture. Using altera's Quartus II software, you can design anny digital circuit or just lift it from your text book and implement it on FPGA. This means you don't need to buy 1000s of 74 series chips to implement that complex circuit, all you need is just one FPGA chip which has 100s of thousands of equivalent logic gates.

In addition you can use this board to learn Hardware describtion langauges like VHDL and Verilog - the same tools used by electronics digital integrated circuit designers for VLSI design.
